Learning from the best.
On TikTok, we took the top ads by click-through rate in the United States over the last 180 days, in six industries from clothing to pets.1 Meta publishes no performance figures, so on Facebook we took the video ads advertisers ran for a month or more and made the most versions of.2 500 from each.
Our AI-native research team watched each one with the sound on and filled in the same form.
Top ads start talking in the first second.
Four in five have someone speaking, and they start at once: no build-up, no music intro. They keep talking to the end, not a few lines over pictures.
They open with a claim about the product, rarely a question.
On TikTok, the speaker is usually on camera. On Facebook, more often a voice-over.
Say what it does, then ask for the sale.
Most of the script goes on what the product does. Three in four of the ads that speak explain how it works, and about as many say what you get from it. Fewer than half say its name.
Two in three end by telling you what to do: buy it, try it, tap the link. About one in four names an offer or a price.
Studio polish is rare at the top.
91 percent of the top TikTok ads look as if a person shot them on a phone, and only 5 percent are polished studio work. Facebook leans more produced, but the phone look is still more than half of its top ads.
A phone, a person and a good script are enough to compete with the best.

Your ad has a team behind it.
We’re the InstantClips team, and we care about one thing: ads that sell. So we read the best ads on TikTok and Facebook, test what we learn on real products, and build it into every ad we make for you.
Paste a link, and InstantClips picks the kind of ad that suits your product, puts the product first, writes every word for you to read before anything is made, and ends on the ask, with your offer on screen. We’re working hard to make that ad great.
